Dr. Parme Giuntini, Director of Art History at Otis College of Art and Design, presents this series on Modern Art. She will be exploring the trends and concepts that have changed our art and art making perspectives. She will begin with Realism in France around 1850 and finish in New York City in the mid-20th century with Abstract Expressionism.

It is Part One of Post-Impressionism Lecture. Through this article , Dr. Giuntini addresses the important concepts as seen by the artist Paul Cezanne, a Seminole influence on Modern Art. By the 1890s, Impressionism was no longer France 's leading avant-garde movement, and had come under some criticism. The public had become customary to expect new designs and creativity.
