This model is hand-chiseled by Haitian artisans from recycled steel oil drums using techniques first created by Georges Liautaud in the late 1950s, when he chalked his first template on a flattened steel oil drum and then carved it by hand with a labyrinth and chisel. Since each piece is handmade, the final size and finish may be slightly variable. Features: Up-cycling recycled oil drums to beautiful art as opposed to landfills High-quality art form that only flourished in Haiti. Such products will surely become collectible when steel oil drums are replaced by plastic ones by oil industry.
